Vampires Rule has a concept you don’t see in the typical paranormal book: a young man turns from human to vampire, only to be turned mortal again. This is an interesting and unusual twist to what we’re used to seeing. Reading it, however, I was anticipating a little something more. I would have liked to have seen a little more depth to the characters, such as more description about them and extended background information. It feels like the storyline is slightly rushed, but by the end, I was interested enough to wonder what happens next.
If you are not into the Young Adult genre, this may not be the book for you, but I do feel this book will appeal to young adults who like the genre. It has things that go bump in the night, such as vampires, werewolves, wraiths and even a fairy. It has the teenage couple brought together by destiny, and it has adventure. This is the first book of the series and there is some room for improvement. All of the elements are there for a great story, but it’s just a little rough around the edges.
