Fear the Darkness is the ninth book in The Guardians of Eternity series.  Cassie, a were, is the only known prophet.  Caine was once a cur but was transformed into a full blooded were.  He has taken the role of protector, but his feelings for Cassie go beyond duty.

I absolutely loved Cassie and Caine together.  She has basically been held a prisoner her whole life.  She is naïve in some ways, especially when it comes to the opposite sex.  Caine is seeking redemption for his past mistakes, and wants to do the honorable thing by fighting his attraction to Cassie.  I am so happy that it wasn’t a long fight because the chemistry between them sizzles before they even touch.  As much as I enjoyed seeing the relationship between Cassie and Caine unfold I was just as happy to see some of my favorite characters return, as well as a couple of new ones.  The story began with my two favorite characters, Styx and Viper.  I could be entertained for hours just reading the banter between these two!  There was a new vampire that came to Styx’s aid, named Roke.  We really didn’t get a lot of information on him, but there are indications we haven’t seen the last of him.

The Guardians are trying to eradicate the Dark Lord, which leads to a really suspenseful read.  I have followed this series from the beginning and I enjoy Ivy’s writing.  This latest book was full of action, and for the most part it moved at a good pace.  I do wish the story would have been a little heavier on the romance, but I understand why the book was written like it was; Fear the Darkness really lent some closure to Bound to Darkness.

Fear the Darkness wasn’t my favorite book in the series, but I still enjoyed the read.  I wouldn’t hesitate  in reading future books, and I would certainly recommend the series to fans of the paranormal romance genre.

Caine is duty-bound to keep Cassie out of danger–and that means resisting his potent urge to seduce her. . .

And Only He Can Save Her

As Cassie’s mysterious visions lead them in and out of danger, Caine believes he has found his true mate, the woman with whom he is bound for all eternity. Cassie is both charmed and frightened by Caine’s magnetism, and unsure if he–or her feelings for him–can be trusted. But Cassie can’t afford to doubt Caine now. A deadly enemy bent on destruction is closer than they realize–and only they can keep chaos from ruling the world. . .

Bound by Darkness is book number eight in the Guardians of Eternity Series.  This book has every supernatural creature your heart desires: vampires, demons, witches, weres, fey and even a gargoyle.

This book is the story of Ariyal, the sexy, stubborn prince of the Sylvermyst and Jaelyn, a vampire and hunter, who is beautiful and tough as nails.  Jaelyn is sent to hunt Ariyal and gets more than she bargained for.  Throughout the story we are also reacquainted with characters from books past; Levet, the gargoyle,  always adds a touch of humor to the story, Styx the serious and sexy vampire king is always a strong presence.

This book is an easy read that captures your attention from beginning to end.  The characters in this book and in the series as a whole are colorful in personality and very diverse which keeps the book interesting.  Ivy delivers entertaining stories that are sexy and full of non-stop action.

Guardians of Eternity are among the first books I read when first introduced to this genre and I have been hooked since book one. I always look forward to the next installment and I can’t wait to see what happens next!

The Sylvermyst have a reputation as sinister cousins to the fey, and none are more mysterious than Ariyal and his tribe. To save his people from banishment, he sold himself to the evil Morgana. Finally free, he faces a new challenge: Jaelyn, an elite vampire warrior sent to capture him. By rights, he should kill her on sight. Yet he cannot bring himself to hurt her – or to resist her. Jaelyn is stunningly beautiful, utterly lethal – and always alone. Until Ariyal. From their first encounter, she knows that what’s between them is more dangerous than simple lust. And as they unite to thwart a terrifying prophecy that will mean the end of his clan and of the world they know, she will risk everything to fulfil her destiny by his side.

Darkness Everlasting by Alexandra IvyAlexandra Ivy turns in yet another page-turner with the latest in her Guardians of Eternity series, Darkness Everlasting, a sizzling tale of romance, danger and intrigue of the paranormal variety.

In Darkness Everlasting, the vampire king, Styx, takes it upon himself to protect the lovely Darcy Smith (by kidnapping her) when he learns that a werewolf leader, Salvatore Guiliani, is after her for some unknown purpose. Styx gets more than he bargains for, however, as the tenderhearted Darcy, who’s always known she was different than those around her without knowing why, proves a danger to the 2,000-year-old warrior’s solitary existence, threatening to melt his heart and free his soul in ways he never imagined.

I found Darkness Everlasting a truly delightful read, well written, well plotted and difficult to put down. The dance between Styx and Darcy is both sweet and devastatingly passionate, their lonely souls connecting in spite of the odds being stacked against them, and the designs of the were leader to have Darcy for his own. It was great fun to see the return of familiar faces from the previous books in the series, including the deliciously amusing gargoyle Levet, along with Viper, Dante, and their mates Shay and Abby, as well. I am eagerly anticipating the next installment in Ms. Ivy’s series.
