There is more to Rammel Hawking than meets the eye. If one were to go by appearances alone they would see a beautiful elf with unique charm and who has a flair for somewhat colorful language. As it turns out there are many layers to Sir Rammel Hawking. The novel, Vampire Hunter: Rammel Hawking, gives readers details about the events of his life that shaped him, as well as his perspective on meeting his mate, Elora Laiken.
When I picked up My Familiar Stranger, the first book in the Knights of the Black Swan series, I was hooked; like many others I was completely smitten with Ram, and I loved his story. When I learned there was going to be a book detailing their courtship from Ram’s point of view, needless to say, I was beyond excited. What I didn’t know was that the book would turn out to be so much more.
Usually when there is a book retelling another character’s point of view that’s exactly what you get, there is nothing more. Danann, however, went the extra mile. The book follows him through his childhood, his recruitment into the Order, the death of Lan, and of course the meeting of his lady love; and if that didn’t have fans chomping at the bit to get their hands on this read there are also some unique views from your other favorite characters as well!
I thoroughly enjoyed Vampire Hunter: Rammel Hawking. Not only did I learn new things about one of my favorite characters, it was just really nice to revisit where it all began!
Ram’s book is partly My Familiar Stranger retold from his unique point of view with chapter insights from other significant characters. The story begins the first time he runs away to the wild magic of the New Forest at age ten, follows his recruitment by Black Swan along with his training to be a vampire hunter, tells the story of the death of his first partner, and his romance with Elora Laiken..
