Scorpio was an assassin; he had to be cold and calculated because had a job to do, and he had to finish it at any cost. After an assignment went wrong involving a mage and his mate a curse was laid on him by an old witch. The curse stated he would meet his fated one, and he would have an overwhelming need to claim her. He would need her like his next breath, but he would never have her. His mate would see him for the monster that he was, and he would forever be alone.
Scorpio is a character I absolutely fell in love with, I dare say out of all of Sharon Kay’s books (and I’ve read them all) he is my favorite to date. There are several reasons I fell for this character; the fact he is a strong sexy alpha male is a given. He touched my heart because he is misunderstood, he has a very dark past that no one except the Watchers who took him in are willing to look beyond, yet no one bothered learn why he did the work he did. Secondly, I saw his story as one of honor and redemption. When he was taken by the coven of witches he had hurt during his time as an assassin, he owned up to his wrongs against them and worked to make amends. Even when he had the opportunity to leave he stayed true to his word.
Tessa is a witch who is gifted in metals and is Scorpio’s fated mate. Just like the old witch’s curse foretold she despises the man she sees as nothing more than a killer. Her coven has been through many hardships, and hers, it seems, are just beginning. The strong willed, and able bodied female is a perfect fit for the former assassin. No one can accuse Tessa of being a shrinking violet. She lives for her people, even if it means sacrificing her own freedom and happiness.
I felt like I waited forever on the latest Watcher’s Kiss novel! I find Sharon Kay’s novels so sexy and entertaining; once I pick one up I’m not laying it down until I read the last page! Assassin’s Kiss had me reeled in from page one with it’s drama, excitement, and passion. I certainly hope in future novels Kay gives us a glimpse of what is happening with Scorpio and Tessa, because these are two characters that are hard to let go of!
