Midnight Cocktail is the first book in the Blood Lust series, a vampire erotica series.   It follows the life of Lana, who is a first generation vampire.

Lana has a very strong personality. She is gorgeous, sarcastic, and a total bad ass. She is the type to do anything she wants just because she wants to. Her character is definitely one who is out for her own pleasure, and to hell with anyone who gets in the way. Her companion’s name is Cherry, a newly turned virgin vampire. In many ways Cherry is the one thing Lana puts above herself.

The first half of the book was pretty much the developing relationship between Lana and Cherry, with a lot of sex.  The second part of the book was more exciting than the first in my opinion.  We as readers get to see Lana in action, we see the lengths she will go to protect those she cares about. We also get a good look at her more devious side. Tapper gives an interesting and different insight to the makeup of the vampire, and I enjoyed seeing something new. It took some time to see where the story was going, but once it really got on point I didn’t want to put it down.

Tapper leaves the end of the first book in a way that the second story can pick up where it left off. This was an erotic read with a pulp fiction feel to it. It may not be for every reader, but I would give the second book a shot.

Smart. Sexy. Rich. Homicidal. What’s not to like?

Lana falls so hard for Cherry, it’s as if she had never been in love before. From their very first date, they can’t keep their hands off each other.

But Lana is not the good girl her parents hoped for; she’s something else entirely: a remorseless 450 year-old killing machine in a hot 21 year-old body.
And when the bullets start to fly, Lana will do whatever it takes to protect the girl she loves.

Janna Lawson is in search of Jonah McCall, the man her late mother loved and died for. When she walks into the town of Beattyville she runs up against alpha wolf Garrett Foster, and the little half she wolf has no idea what she’s up against.

Janna’s character is resourceful, determined, and spunky. This young woman oozes attitude, and if she expects to stand up to Garrett she will need it in spades. Garrett is all alpha male, as the leader of his pack; he exudes power and demands respect. His protective and possessive nature is sexy as hell and I couldn’t get enough of him. Aside from the two main characters there are others the reader will be excited to learn more about!

I am a huge fan of Gabelman’s Protectors series, where the alphas are vampire warriors.  I was beside myself when I learned she was writing a series about wolves, because I do love a sexy shifter. Forbidden Hunger was everything I expected from one of Gabelman’s books. Her blend of action, humor, and outright sexiness always leaves me wanting more.  Forbidden Hunger is a fast paced read you won’t want to put down!  I am already anticipating the next book.

A shifter without a pack, Janna Lawson goes in search of the man who her mother died trying to protect. What she finds is Garrett Foster; a man who has the power to decide her fate and causes a hunger inside her that is forbidden to them both.

Primal Instinct is an excellent debut to the Pendragon Gargoyles Series by Sydney Somers.  The first chapter was probably one of the best opening chapters I’ve ever read.  It was tight.  You could tell the author had tweaked it until she had it just right.

Chapter one introduces us to Cori, a woman having a rough time because she thinks she is going crazy.  In the evenings, she goes out on her balcony and confides in her neighbor,  Ryder, a man she has never seen because of the wall between balconies.  Regardless, the two have an intimate and emotional connection.  The dialogue is excellent.

Ryder has an involved and dark past.  He is a wolf gargoyle who turns to stone during the day.  He initially set out to meet Cori as part of his efforts to get revenge against her estranged father.  Cori has many things to discover – some about love, and some about herself and her dad.

When Ryder and Cori have their face-to face meeting, things get real hot real fast and from there we are taken on an action packed adventure.  On the run, Ryder seeks shelter with some of his gargoyle friends.  I quickly became interested in them and am looking forward to meeting them in future books of this series.

The mythology is somewhat convoluted and the ending was a little rushed, but overall I thoroughly enjoyed this book.   I will definitely continue the Pendragon Gargoyles

My Rating: 4.5 stars

For months Corrine Lawson has walked a fine line between reality and madness. The only thing keeping her sane is her sexy and mysterious next-door-neighbor, Ryker. The closer she gets to uncovering the truth about him, the harder it becomes to resist the man who exposes her to a dangerous world steeped in myth and legend. Yet surrendering to him and the sizzling connection that burns between them means succumbing to the madness within, and that’s not a fight she’s willing to lose.

Both man and wolf, shapeshifter Ryker McKinnon has spent nearly a century tormented by his past, hungering only for vengeance—until he finds Corrine, a spirited human and the key to his redemption. Determined to use Cori as a pawn in a deadly game of revenge, nothing prepares Ryker for the staggering emotion her touch unleashes or the brutal need to claim her as his own.

When Cori is caught in the middle of a bitter feud and a centuries-old greed for Excalibur, will Ryker’s secrets destroy the woman he loves or finally awaken the fierceness inside her?
Warning: Contains a brutal warrior hunting revenge and finding love with the enemy, a new twist on an old legend and a page-turning road romance that will have you hanging on for the ride.

Skye Renault is a famous author with bestselling novels that are being made into movies, but the stories she pens are not completely her own. They are born of nightmares she had as a girl after she had an accident at D’Arc Estate.  Now the dreams have dried up, and she feels bereft losing the connection with her two leading men. She decides to go back to the mansion that still calls to her; the place that where it all began, and It doesn’t take long for to lose herself when everything she thought to be imagination starts to take a very realistic turn.

Skye is a very fascinating character.  She is very talented, and successful. However, her strength and tenacity are her most impressive traits. However, for the most part it seems she doesn’t see these qualities in herself. The vampires she has dreamed of through the years are Christian and Lucien. Christian is patient and gentle while Lucien is darker and passionate.  When they become a part of her reality she must choose between the two vampires that are in love with her, and who she loves in return.

I have been hooked on the Haven’s Realm series since the beginning. Monteau’s  Community of vampires has brought me hours of enjoyment as I witnessed their trials and triumphs. She has a way of bringing this alternate world alive for her readers through her descriptive writing.  Midnight Skye is one of my favorites to date with its strong character presence and overall mystery.

Characters in the past books are prominent in this latest novel as well. I urge readers to start from the beginning, or you will lose out on a lot of history. It is necessary to see what these characters have been through to get to where they are now. I am looking forward to what promises to be an exciting follow up in the seventh novel After Midnight.

Since age thirteen, Summer Skye Renault has written about her nightmares—stories of two vampire cousins who hold habitual romantic rivalries. Six years later, with her sixth novel nearing release, the dreams stop. She returns to D’Arc Estate, where they began, and seeking answers. There she learns that her nightmares were real, and becomes the unwitting subject of the next story.

When Christian learns of Lucien’s disappearance, he travels to his cousin’s home in Tennessee to investigate, but the presence of an intriguing young mortal complicates his plans. Before he can convince her to leave with him, he becomes gravely injured by vicious Adept magick, leaving Summer to battle the treacherous estate alone.

Finding Lucien and freeing him from a century-long confinement places Summer’s life in danger when an ancient enemy retaliates. Lucien must call on all his intellect and set aside fear if he is to save them all and protect the Bargain.

Review: Hidden (Alpha Wolf’s Pet #1)

Mia had to leave everything she ever knew behind when she was forced into witness protection. She is taken from the city, across the country and placed in a cottage in a Wolf Woods. Dominic Wolfe is a handsome, wealthy, and very private citizen living in Wolf Woods. He is also an alpha werewolf, and secrecy is utmost important to ensure the survival of his kind. When he meets Mia, the beautiful human woman he finds himself changing all the rules.

Mia and Dominic have an interesting relationship. It is almost like a tug of war in the beginning. The passion is there but Mia teeters back and forth because of Dominic’s dominant personality. She suspects that he is a Dom in the BDSM scene, and she also has an inner struggle about whether or not she could be in that kind of lifestyle.

I love shifters, so I was excited to get my hands on Hidden. I really liked the premise, and thought that Gordon came up with a storyline that was quite unique. I look forward to reading the second book in the series titled Kept.

Mia’s testimony against Russian mobsters forced her to enter the witness protection program. She is relocated to a quaint cottage in Wolf Woods, near Mt. Rainier, far from everyone and everything she loved and cared for. All is calm, until she meets Dominic, the gorgeous ruggedly handsome owner of the mysterious Wolfe Estate. He is all alpha male, domineering, and controlling. The last thing she needs is to get involved with a sexy control freak.

Alpha werewolf, Dominic Wolfe, is the packs’ enforcer. When an attractive young woman moves into a cottage near his territory; his senses are heightened to obsessive proportions. A human pet to meet his desires.

Dominic is determined to unveil Mia’s real identity while keeping his own securely hidden. Haunted by the howls and shrieks coming from Dominic’s estate, Mia wonders if she can really trust the enigmatic man she suspects of wanting a dominant-submissive relationship. A man who brings out her darker desires. Will hidden danger keep them from gratifying their burning passion?

Review: Kept (Alpha Wolf’s Pet #2)

Kept is a continuation of Mia and Dominic’s story that began in Hidden.
Dominic is not allowed to mate a human, but something in Mia calls to him. He has a need to protect her, but he wants her as his. To be with Dominic, Mia becomes his human pet, and signs a contract that swears her to secrecy about the werewolves.

Mia is still in danger. The Russian Mob has not given up their hunt. She is also having trouble finding her place within the pack, and dealing with pack politics. The high regard at which Dominic holds his pet seems to have loyalty to his pack questioned at times.

The relationship between Dominic and Mia doesn’t come easy, and that friction definitely keeps things interesting. There are times when Dominic is a bit high handed and Mia is a kind of a brat, but they always seem to get on the same page when it matters most. Gordon really kicks up the intensity in this second book.

In the sequel to Alpha Wolf’s Pet, Hidden, Mia has two choices: remain hidden, frightened by the Russian mob determined to murder her, or become a sworn member and under the protection of Dominic’s werewolf pack. Being Dominic’s human lover is pleasurable while taxing. She wants more than he can give: commitment. Except werewolves never marry humans. Carnal desires aside, will she accept her low status within the pack in order to share what little time she has with Dominic until he takes a werewolf mate?
Dominic is torn. If he gives Mia beta status, his pack will mutiny. If he doesn’t, she’ll leave. Her stubborn independent nature will turn his world of strict pack rules upside down and he’ll be scorned as pack enforcer. He loves her, but his pack rules will never allow him to claim a human as his mate. Worse, he’s drawn to Mia’s addictive blood. Was one taste too much?

Despite breaking the witness protection rules and looming danger, Mia is determined to visit her ailing grandmother. Can Dominic protect her from the mob, as well as from his kind? As their passion reaches a fevered pitch, will circumstances crush their happiness?

Review: Hunted (Alpha Wolf’s Pet #3)

Hunted is the last book in the Alpha Wolf’s Pet Trilogy. Mia and Dominic find themselves in more than one sticky situation. Mia learns more about who she is, and her situation seems to be without a happy ending in sight. Tensions mount as Dominic pursues the Russian Mob, while his pack voices their concerns over Dominic’s possible addiction to Mia’s blood.

I must admit Gordon gave the reader a fast paced read with twists and turns that will have your head spinning. What happens between Dominic and Mia will keep you guessing right up to the end. Oddly though, it wasn’t the couple that held my attention. I was really grabbed by the supporting characters! Lev the mutated werewolf was absolutely fascinating. I am hoping that Gordon gives him a future story. In my opinion, Cricket, the omega wolf that became a close friend to Mia totally stole the show! Despite her low rank, she is a strong wolf who has perseverance. I really respected her character. When I found out she would be getting a book of her own I was thrilled, and ready for Gordon to take me on the next journey.

In the sequel to Book 2, Alpha Wolf’s Pet, Kept, the trilogy concludes with Alpha Wolf’s Pet, Hunted.

Living with werewolves is a lesson in Mia’s fragility, and stretching the limits of their antiquated pack protocol wears on everybody’s nerves. Nonetheless, Mia is an official member of their pack, and Dominic’s lover. Satisfied with their romantic and sexy exclusive arrangement, Mia is devastated when Chandra, Dominic’s fiancée, arrives during his absence.

Dominic is worried. Is his love for Mia really his addiction to her blood? Will she eventually become his blood mistress and belong to her, commanding his body and soul? Before he can resolve the issue, the Russian Chess Piece mob strikes his territory. Faced with the king’s command to mate his werewolf fiancée, and the mob, he has no time to explain before Mia does what she does best. She runs.

Danger looms for Mia and all werewolf kind as secrets are revealed about the mob pursuing her. But most disturbing of all, is the Lycan Intelligence Agency’s sudden interest in Mia’s DNA. Will new revelations destroy their love and crush their future?

Arawn is the fierce leader of the Lash demons. He is meticulous when it comes to planning for battle, and he looks out for his warriors. He has suffered great loss, and he has no room in his life for love. Ria is a seasoned warrior.  She is tough as well as beautiful. If she cares to admit it she has been attracted to Arawn for decades, but harbored secrets could get in the way of any chance she may have to soften the warrior’s heart.

Kudos Sharon Kay! I was a bit broken hearted after the ending of Kay’s Solsti Prophecy series. There was a house full of warriors I wanted to meet. As you can imagine I was jumping for joy when I learned of the Watcher’s Kiss Series, and the first book would feature the mysterious leader of the Lash demons.

Arawn was everything I expected and more. He is every bit of the driven warrior I knew he was, but I loved getting up close and personal. Ria is just incredible.  She is a fearless warrior, but she never loses her feminine side. Her strength makes her a great fit for the demon that has so much resting on his shoulders.

Tainted Kiss was such a fun read for me. It was fast paced with plenty of drama and action to keep me glued to the story.  If that isn’t enough for you Arawn and Ria burn up the pages! I always enjoy Kay’s writing. She is descriptive, but at the same time she keeps the story moving. Her characters are fascinating, and you can’t help but getting hooked on them.

It isn’t necessary to have read the Solsti Prophecy books before reading Tainted Kiss, but I highly recommend it to get the most out of the story. Fans of the first series will be in for a treat when they get reacquainted with some familiar faces. If that isn’t enough for you Arawn and Ria burn up the pages! Make sure you have free time when you sit down with this one, because you won’t want to lay it down.

Tactical, lethal, resolute.

Haunted by a centuries-old tragedy, there’s no room in Arawn’s life for softness. Every action he takes is for the betterment of his race and the good of the realm. He leads his elite band of warriors the same way he lives his life: full on, without compromise, determined. Except for one sexy female who happens to be his subordinate.

Tenacious, passionate, tough-as-steel.

Ria relishes the duties Arawn assigns her as much as she respects the deadly combatants on her team. And she has a secret: her formidable boss is also her deepest fantasy. Years of working under his authority haven’t dulled the spark she feels, yet her passion is tempered by the hints of loss she gathers about him. His dark and sexy moodiness draws her, but he’s a hard man to approach as he keeps the world at emotional arm’s length.

Secrets laced in blood burn his battle-hardened soul.

When Ria is gravely injured in the line of duty, Arawn can no longer fight his own long-simmering feelings. But a secret, more heinous and ugly than anyone could imagine, prevents him from surrendering his heart. Despite his intentions, he and Ria forge a connection both fiery and unexpectedly tender. Yet every day brings them closer to shocking facts. Evil stirs in his blood, and hiding the truth from her will be the ultimate betrayal.

After the slaughter of his parents Marek Strigoi is now the head of his family. Marek gives up his dreams of being a scholar and steps into his father’s shoes. He has vowed to avenge his family and hunt down Mircea Ravagiu, the brutal aventurieri who has brought so much sorrow to his clan, even if it means his own demise.

Marek’s character is strong, and at the same time tragic.  Sometimes it was hard to read about the injustices that seem to continually befall him. However through his journeys and trials he continues on with determination.  It was interesting seeing his character change through the different phases of his life.

If you are looking for a lighthearted vampire romance you won’t find it here. Vissage’s vampires are certainly capable of love, but they can be brutal as well. The mood of the novel is dark, gritty, and fascinating.  I am impressed Vissage’s attention to detail. I liked how he gave a glimpse into the aventurieri hierarchy, and how humans fit into this world. When you think you have a handle on the story he throws an unexpected twist that takes the reader off guard. It is easy to become engrossed.

I have said time and time again that I enjoy Vissage’s writing style. It has a really vintage feel that brings to mind the old black and white vampire movies, and classic books. The Second Species series promises to be an epic.

While Humans multiply into Earth’s dominant life-form, the Tree of Man sprouts another prolific branch—the aventurieri, winged, nocturnal hunters with a dietary need for blood. As legends evolve about them, Mankind’s half-brothers live their twilight lives in the Carpathians’ shadowed heights, where they develop their own civilization, laws, and religion–and a prophecy of a savior paradoxically betraying his people

When one of their kind murders another, his son’s demand for revenge expels him into the outside world of 18th century Europe. Marek Strigoi’s existence, as well as that of his species, will be forever changed as he seeks his father’s killer.

When both the hunter and the hunted are vampires, not even Hell can stand in the way.

Diane has finally escaped the prison that has held her since she can remember. She doesn’t remember her name or her past, but she dreams of two men. Miles and Eli are twin brothers and dragon shifters who were betrayed and forced from their kingdom. In the process they lost their mate. They now protect the sisters in Sanctuary waiting to be reunited with the woman they love.

I felt for Diane’s character. She doesn’t know who she is and she finds herself thrust into a different time and realm. Despite this she is a strong woman, and a fighter. I liked her stubbornness; always ready to stand for what she thinks is right. Miles and Eli are very intense characters. If you like the Alpha type it doesn’t get much better than two huge dominant dragon shifters.

Krystal Shannan delivers a very exciting and sexy novel with My Dragon Masters. Her writing is so descriptive that you can imagine yourself right there in the mix along with the other characters. There is a lot to hold the reader’s interest with a wide array of paranormal creatures, and fascinating characters. It is also a book that keeps a fast pace, and you won’t want to put it down. If you like your romance on the spicy side this will be right up your alley. I was happy to visit Sanctuary, Texas once again, and I am already looking forward to my next trip!

Fire and ice don’t go together… or do they?

When the beast within wakes, her desires burn with a fire she can’t escape. She won’t let anything stop her, not even the fact that she has no memory. She doesn’t know who… or what she is, but also can’t shake the feeling that she’s something more than human.

Dragon shifter twin brothers, Miles and Eli Blackmoor, are exiled Drakonae kings. A thousand years ago they lost their soul mate, Diana Karlson. Betrayed by their own people, they spent centuries on earth searching for a way to reclaim their birthright and their wife. They’ve dedicated their lives to protecting the House of Lamidae, hoping one day one of the seers in the house would have a vision to help them.

All the Sisters ever say is… she is coming to you.

Warning: Contains scorching m/f/m menage, bondage, and a sassy dragon female who wants her mates to play!

Sophia is a serryn witch, a great surprise to her. She is now lethal to vampires; if they drink from her they die, and pheromones cause them to be drawn to her. Too bad the same doesn’t ring true for sexy lycans. Jask Tao has the reputation for being a dedicated pack leader, and he will go to any means to protect them. When he finds Sophia he captures her and takes her back to the compound, because he needs her to gain something that he desperately needs to save his pack. What neither Sophia nor Jask count on is the chemistry that sizzles between them.

Both Jask and Sophia are broken on the inside because of great loss they feel responsible for. Jask has brought himself back from the brink of the abyss for the good of his pack, although it is easy to see he is deeply scarred. It almost seems like Sophia is on a suicide mission. The pain she harbors still affects her very much, and she has little or no regard for her wellbeing. I liked both characters very much as individuals, but together they are everything a reader could hope for.

Dark, exciting, and sensual are the only way to describe the third book in the Blackthorn series. Pryor seems to be stepping up her game with this installment taking the reader on a harrowing journey through the ever dangerous Blackthorn. I loved the first two books in the series, but Blood Torn is the best so far in my opinion. The chemistry between Sophia and Jask is a large contributing factor, but the storyline is what is truly gripping. There is a storm brewing in Blackthorn that is going to have a huge impact on the third species as well as the humans. If you haven’t tried this thrilling paranormal series put it on your read list because you don’t want to miss out on the dark and mysterious world Pryor has created.

‘Vampires might bite, honey, but lycans tear.’

Jask Tao, lycan leader, rules his pack with absolute dedication and demands the same loyalty in return. In the world of Blackthorn, where respect is a rare commodity, Jask has earned his – few dare to cross him, and fewer survive to tell the tale.

When he captures Sophia, a rare serryn witch whose blood is lethal to vampires, Jask knows just how valuable she can be. Despite her fiery nature, he also can’t shake the feelings that she rouses in him – feelings that he thought died along with Ellen, his mate.

Sophia knows she has to escape from Jask’s lycan compound – and fast. Inheriting her sister’s serryn powers can only mean one thing – that her family is at risk. She’ll have to get past the dangerously attractive Jask first but, scarred by memories of her mother’s murder, Sophia won’t ever give up.

Sparks fly between Jask and Sophia but, as both her family and the pack come under threat, they might just need each other if they, and their loved ones, are going to stay alive…

In this thrillingly sensual novel, Lindsay J. Pryor returns to the shadowy dystopian world of Blackthorn, where tensions are rising, the risks are high, and the most powerful loves are formed in the face of great danger.

If you’re a fan of J.R Ward, Jeaniene Frost, Kelley Armstrong, Lara Adrian, or Felicity Heaton then you’ll love Lindsay J. Pryor’s books too.
