In the Shadows of Eden is the fifth book in Rebekah Armusik’s Gothic Memoirs Series.  In this latest installment Nadija and Alexei are embracing their true selves, and we as readers are the fortunate ones who get to see their beginnings. Once again we bear witness to the fight between good and evil.

In every book there is more personal growth for Nadija. We get to see her become stronger and more enlightened, but on the other side of the coin she never loses that quick wit that endeared us to her in the first place! I have always loved James, but in the last couple of books I began to see what Nadija saw in Alexei. Now, with In the Shadows of Eden I absolutely love the pair. There is no doubt that the two of them are meant to be. He is so devoted to her and they are both so passionate. I do feel sad for James and long for him to find what Nadija and Alexei have!

The first thing I noticed about the novel was the gorgeous artwork on the cover.  I found it not only beautiful, but quite striking. Then I begin to read, there is something about Armusik’s writing that really reaches out to me. She has the ability to weave words into a story that you as a reader get caught up in as if you were in a web! She uses such vivid imagery to give the novel life and although there is pain and suffering within there is also great beauty!

The book’s ending left me with great anticipation of what is to come!  These books just continue to get better and better. I will advise new readers start from the beginning of the series as the story is continuing.  Trust me when I say you don’t want to miss a moment! I am sure any fan of the paranormal genre will find the Gothic Memoirs Series more than worthy!

Oh my, Oh my! I’ve been waiting for this book and this cover reveal means it’s getting close! I’m sure you’ll love the cover as much as I do. LogansAcadianWolves_Final_1600x2535I will be racing to get my copy of Logan’s book. I just can’t get enough of the Immortals of New Orleans!
Immortals of New Orleans Book 4

Here’s the blurb:
Deep in the heart of New Orleans, Acadian Wolves’ Alpha, Logan Reynaud, rescues a beautiful woman in the dead of night.  Intrigued by the mysterious human, the commanding Alpha is determined to elicit all of her secrets, including her deepest fantasies.  After tragedy strikes, Logan discovers dangerous adversaries are planning an attack in his city.  Driven by responsibility and honor, Logan must protect both his pack and the woman who’s captivated his attention.
Dr. Wynter Ryan, a leading virologist, is fascinated with her charismatic protector.  As the chemistry ignites between her and the dominant Alpha, she relinquishes her ties to the past, embracing ecstasy and submission within his arms and intrepidly acquiescing to her own adventurous instincts.  Succumbing to desire, she learns to trust her Alpha, discovering what it means to be wolf.
Passion and mystery on the bayou stirs Logan’s wolf, demanding he claim his mate.  Yet Wynter’s a distraction he can’t afford when his priority is to lead his new pack.  Will Logan surrender to the uncontrollable need to claim Wynter as his mate?  And will he be able to keep her alive, finding the killer who threatens the Acadian Wolves?

Duncan is the third book in Teresa Gabelman’s The Protectors series.  VC warrior Duncan Roark is devastated over Pam’s disappearance.  Realizing he should have done more to make his feelings known to her he is desperate to find her, not only to claim the woman he loves, but to protect her from her sadistic ex who is hunting her.

By the end of the last book I had already fallen hard for the alpha warrior Duncan.  He is a take control kind of vampire and hard as nails.  In this book the reader gets to see a whole other side to Duncan.  There is a softer side for sure, but only where Pam is concerned.  She seems to have the ability to turn him inside out, which is definitely out of his comfort zone.  After suffering at the hands of her abusive ex -boyfriend Kenny, Pam is a shell of her former self.  I missed the mouthy tough girl.  I was enraptured with the budding relationship between Duncan and Pam, and finally seeing her take her life back.  I loved seeing the return of all my favorite characters.  I am excited to see more of Sid and new comer Slade!

This series gets better and better.  Although I really loved the first book, Damon, it is obvious that Gabelman has grown leaps and bounds as a writer. I was really touched by the story, and felt like I was sharing the feelings of the characters involved.  I also like the fact that she writes with such depth.  For example, Jared and Tessa love each other unconditionally, but they still have struggles to overcome as a couple.  All of the trials and adversities make them feel more relatable to the readers.

If you are new to The Protectors, I insist that you start from book one.  The characters from the other books have active roles and it is important to know their stories.  I don’t think I will ever get enough of these sexy warriors, and I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of the next book, which will be Sid’s story.  Fans of paranormal romance will find that The Protectors is a series they can sink their fangs into!

Leader of the VC Warriors Cincinnati branch, Duncan Roark, has devoted his long life to the Warriors he calls brothers and the Vampire Council, protecting innocents of both the vampire and human race. Things change suddenly when it is ordered that he and his fellow Warriors train human Social Workers to protect themselves in their new world of vampires. Falling in love with a human was something Duncan never thought possible, but love her he did. Now instead of being the ruthless leader he was trained to be, his focus has turned to finding the woman he loved and let go.

Pam Braxton is outgoing and loves her job working with children, but when she realizes her live in boyfriend, Kenny Lawrence, has been using her and her job for his illegal activities, she becomes withdrawn, and her world is turned upside down. Deciding to take matters into her own hands, she stays, trying to learn more of his betrayal so she could see him punished. That decision sucks her deeper into a relationship that has turned dangerous and abusive. Overhearing a plot that would put everyone she cares about at risk, she finds the courage to try to stop the monster who has threatened her friends and the man she truly loves. Now Pam is on the run, alone and with a secret that could change the already unbalanced world of vampires and humans.

As Duncan searches for Pam, the threat of losing his leadership role has the other Warriors worried, but their loyalty for Duncan is strong and they stand behind him. Duncan’s search is relentless; he knows he is not the only one looking for Pam. Even with his responsibilities slipping, he puts it all on the line to find the only woman he has ever loved. In a race against time, Duncan fights to find Pam before her past catches up to her. The Warrior’s path is clear: Find the woman he loves before the past finds her first.

Hunted is the first book of The Gates Legacy series.  Harrow Gates is being hunted by the Vampire Council because he has a disease that is being spread through the vampire community.  He is not aware that the disease originated with him until he is captured by a secret facility searching for a cure.

I loved the character of Harrow Gates.  In the beginning I was sympathetic to his character, but as I read on sympathy turned to attraction, there is more to Harrow than meets the eye.  Jordan is a newly turned vampire with a tragic story about how she came to be.  She has been isolated, alone, and hell bent on revenge.  Harrow and Jordan’s initial meeting was more than a bit rocky, but it is hard to fight good chemistry!  The other characters in the book are equally as fascinating, and only added value to the read.

There were times the book lagged for me because of the information overload.  I was not at all discouraged because the first book in a new series is often this way.  Once I really settled down and got into my groove I didn’t want to put the book down! This is a well written story with a really good premise.  Font gave the readers a change from the usual vampire story, and that is always refreshing. This was a nice start to what promises to be a great series. The depth of the characters and a great plot will draw any vampire fan!

Deep in the heart of New York City’s underworld, a horrible disease is ravaging the vampire community. The Vampire Council is on a crusade to obliterate those infected, and Harrow Gates is target Number One. The unwitting source of the plague, he suffers from the same nightmarish symptoms as his victims. The world he’d been thrust into was cold, cruel, and intent on eradicating him, and the legions of afflicted vampires he created with his bite.

A bounty hanging over his head, satisfying his hunger has become an enormous challenge for Harrow. The less he feeds, the more hideous and painful his lesions become. Constantly running for his life and learning new tricks to survive, Harrow is in no position to refuse when Pritchard Tack offers him a unique opportunity. Pritchard not only gives Harrow a new beginning, but also a purpose and a chance to rectify the chaos he created in the vampire world. However, the multi-billionaire has an agenda of his own.
Jordan is a reluctant new vampire and a woman on a mission. After the demise of her family and her own transformation at the hands of Goran, the ruthless leader of the Vampire Council, her only focus is revenge. Constantly faced with one frustrating dead-end after another, a stroke of luck leads her to an underground facility that she suspects is the lair of the monster for whom she is looking.

Upon learning more about the truth behind the secret bunker, Jordan must fight against her growing feelings of friendship and concern for the facility’s inhabitants. One man in particular threatens to pull her heart away from her sworn mission. There is something behind Harrow’s dark lenses that unsettles the hardened female. Once again, she trembles and hungers for something other than red-stained revenge. Is love strong enough to override her hate-fueled thirst for vengeance?

Carl and Beth decide to leave the hustle and bustle of the city for a weekend escape to their cabin retreat in the Catskills.  What begins as a romantic getaway for the married couple soon turns into a nightmare when they realize they have been thrust into the past…way into the past, during the Revolutionary War. Will they be able to find their way back to the present day, or are they doomed to live in the past?

I thought this was an extremely fascinating premise for a story, and it really allowed for my imagination to run free. I asked questions to myself such as, “How would I react if I were in that situation?” I must say Carl and Beth handled it well, but it was obvious to me Carl was the rock in the relationship!

What I found most impressive was Robin’s attention to detail. I could imagine every rock and every blade of grass, I once again found myself feeling like a voyeur on the inside of the story. She also did a phenomenal job of conveying the kaleidoscope of emotions this couple went through. The time period they were thrown into, I thought was perfect. First off they are in a time of war; secondly the couple had no modern conveniences. Although Robins probably did not mean for it to be funny, I got a chuckle when Beth got distraught over the lack of bathroom facilities!

When readers hear the words paranormal books, the mind usually goes straight to creatures and things that go bump in the night. The fact that this was different from what I normally read was a refreshing change.

Outside That Door takes readers on an adventurous trip back through the sands of time, and Robins made it a fascinating ride!

Who would have known a simple weekend vacation to the resort in the Catskill Mountains would end up being smack dab in the middle of the revolutionary war? Carl and Beth never thought such a thing could happen until they stepped outside the side door of their little get-away cottage to find nothing but wilderness and nothing around but the wild life. They search for help only to find soldiers, and Indians. Can they ever get back to the present? Or will they be forced to live among the settlers for the rest of their lives?

One fateful night Gabriel lost everything.  Two years later he is left bitter, cold, afraid to live, and especially afraid to love.  Leah isn’t fairing much better, her career was snatched away, and the one man she loves can never be hers.  Now a private detective, she receives a note pertaining to the disappearance of her Uncle twenty years ago.  She tells her best friend Gabriel that she is going to investigate his disappearance herself much to his dismay because he harbors a dark secret that could crush Leah.

I immediately felt great sympathy towards Gabriel’s character.  On more than one occasion I found myself tearing up over the pain that he has been subjected to.   Leah has given her all to help him, but just can’t seem to get passed the barriers he has erected.  For me, both of these characters felt so real and relatable.  Malachim, Chay, and Rafe grew up with Gabriel and Leah. The four young boys, as well as Leah had become fast friends.  I would be very excited to see the other guys have their stories told, especially Rafe who I found very intriguing.

While I was reading this book I was really at a loss for words to describe it.  Simone has written an incredible story, it has love, mystery, and especially suspense. This read was a nail biter!  Simone takes this story through gut wrenching twists and turns, and I felt like I was living it myself.  She wrote a story rich in detail without making the reader feel as though they were drowning in information, and as if that wasn’t enough the chemistry between the characters was undeniable!

This book is a must read for lovers of romance and suspense.  I am really excited to read more of Naima Simone’s work, and I hope that there are more secrets and sins coming my way!

Dating a Jaguar Shifter

Wade Patterson’s Testimony

Transcribed by Terry Spear

Have you ever considered dating a jaguar shifter?

We’re meat lovers. As a jaguar, that’s ALL we eat. No lettuce salads. But because we are human also, we do eat our veggies.

But if you want to win over a jaguar shifter, make sure you order meat lover’s pizza. A steak or two is good. Love fish.

We love to swim, so if you have an idea for a fun romp to a watering hole—lake, pond, river, beach, shower, hot tub, waterfall, we’re game. Water is great for fishing, cooling off, and… heating up.

If you need some protection, you’ve got it. Old boyfriend pestering you? Won’t be a problem. Even humans can sense when a jaguar shifter’s being territorial and doesn’t want the old game to make trouble for his ex. They might not be able to smell our hot-wired emotions, but they can see the predatory gleam in our eyes, and the ready-to-pounce posture that says, “Back off, buster, or else.”

If you want some kitty cat loving—the BIG variety—we’ve got it.

We’re wild as in like to visit the rainforest for a run on the wild side. Well, most of us do. A few are citified jaguars. So if you want someone who’s on the tamer side, we have some of those also. But if you want to visit the jungle, choose a wild shifter. We know the ropes and can teach you all the tricks of surviving in the jungle. That includes knowing where all the best water romps are, too. All work and no play makes the jaguar shifter one dull cat.

Like to dance? I know a great jaguar shifter club for dancing.

Did I mention being a little territorial? Even the pure jaguars are like that. But they claim a couple of she-cats for mates and a territory that encompasses both of theirs. Our human side dictates we have more monogamous relations. Not that a few don’t act more like a cat on the prowl. But the good guys like to make it a happily ever after for those with cat scratch fever.

Ever love to climb a tree in your youth? We enjoy getting off the ground and perch high above, watching the world pass us by.

In the big cat world, the she-cat takes care of her cubs. But you better believe male jaguar shifters are just as protective of the she-cat as they are of their offspring. And yes, that means changing diapers. Not that I’m faced with that prospect yet, but in the future, I’m sure of it.

And that’s about all I can say for now on the dating aspects when getting interested in a jaguar shifter.

One lucky commenter will win a copy of A Highland Werewolf Wedding, US/Canada only, just answer a question:

Which water source would be your favorite place to meet up with a jaguar shifter, and what appeals so much about it?

She’s being pursued by everyone, in more ways than one.

Even in an exotic world of humans, jaguars, and tantalizing creatures who shift between the two, Maya Anderson stands out from the crowd. Interest from human suitors is bad enough, but when male shifters give chase, the real trouble starts.

Who’s the hunter and who’s the prey?

Investigating the black marketing trade of exotic animals keeps Wade Patterson more than busy. When he and Maya both get entangled in a steamy jungle mission, it becomes impossible to tell who is being hunted or who the hunters are. Wade is desperate to survive this deadly game of cat and mouse. But it’s Maya’s piercing eyes that keep him awake at night.
