Vlad Chemare failed the first time at over throwing the leader of the nosferatu, and was punished severely for his failure. Several centuries later he is once again ready to face Baslo Rigla. Revenge is seared into Vlad; Baslo will die even if it means his own life will end. The only thing in the way is that he has fallen for the mortal woman Meredith Swanson; will Vlad be able to ascend as leader and keep the woman he loves?
This is the first full length novel I have read by Tony-Paul de Vissage, and I must say I found it to be a satisfying read. I liked the character of Vlad. There are two sides to him. The first side is the ruthless and sometimes slightly self-centered side. He has the thirst for revenge, and is about seeking his own pleasures. Then there is the love he has for Meredith which surprises even him. He has an old world charm, and yet knows the modern day lingo (this really conflicted with the way I pictured him in my mind!) Meredith is sort of wholesome, but yet has a lot of spunk. I found her quite likeable as well, especially when compared to her sister.
The novel is written in a way you get a point of view from all the major characters, and I loved the fact that at one point or another I got to live in their minds. There was a nice blend of heart-stopping action and romance. In fact, of the books I have read by de Vissage this one had more romance and sex than previous books.
Although the novel didn’t contain a true cliff-hanger ending. I felt I needed more, there were what I felt was loose ends. I believe that the story could easily continue, and I would be thrilled to see this happen!
Tony-Paul Vissage’s style is more like the classic vampire novel. We most always see the monster within, and I for one like the refreshing change.

The South is being invaded…by vampires.
That’s nothing new, but Vlad Chemare isn’t some angst-filled paranormal hero longing for his lost soulmate. He’s up-to-date, traveling by jet, and seeking revenge against the master who buried him alive in punishment for daring to lead a revolt back in the 15th century. Armed with American Express and a Kevlar vest, Vlad’s out for blood…specifically Baslo Rigla’s…and he isn’t about to let his feelings for mortal Meredith Swanson stand in his way. After all, a woman’s just a woman, but revenge is a dish enjoyed even six hundred years later.
Gathering the vampires of Savannah around him, he rallies their American defiance of tyranny, to make himself a new army. So what if this new breed of vampires don’t know half of what they should, their own masters being a little slipshod in their training? All they need is a little mental prodding to release their innate knowledge, so while Vlad’s lieutenants enlist a Creative Anachronism blacksmith to fashion their armor, the young (he’s only six hundred and fifty) rebel trains his men for the coming battle. Soon, he’s not only got his army, but the local werewolf population is volunteering to become his K-9 Corps.
It’s only when Vlad learns that Meredith wants to make him a father that his rush toward vengeance falters…but only for a moment. If he can survive being buried under six feet of frozen earth, Vlad figures he can handle killing Rigla, and fatherhood, too. And then the fight begins…with the city of Savannah as the battleground, and the rest of the world as the prize…after Vlad and Meredith leave the local Taco Bell, that is.
A young man, in a stage of rebellion, sneaks through his bedroom window. As he walks he comes across three men-vampires. Instead of becoming dinner he is made an offer; complete school and become their scribe so their history can be written.
The leader of the Andriescu clan is Marius. They eventually settled in America after being forced from their Transylvanian home. He is the most serious of the three. Although he has had his moments! Valerius, or Val as he is now called, is the younger brother. He is by far my favorite of the group. Timon is the cousin, and to me is the most hot-headed one. He also strikes me as a bit rebellious himself.
The young man who meets up with the clan is none other than Tony-Paul de Vissage himself. I thought it was really interesting the way he inserted himself into the story, it kind of makes the tales of the clan seem more authentic. I was totally wrapped up when we first meet Marius and gain some history of the family. Afterwards, de Vissage gives readers Val’s story. It was my favorite for the fact that it felt the most complete. I enjoyed the book, but I wish there would have been just a little more history and details in each of their stories.
Tony-Paul de Vissage gives the readers three wonderful characters and their stories of finding their happily ever after. It would have been easy to give each of them a full length book. I am curious to know everything about them. It would make me very happy to see these characters that have all of this great potential revisited in the future.

Vampires can have as many problems with love as anyone else.
Take the members of the Clan Andriescu, for instance, three of the most lovelorn vampires in existence. There’s Marius, elder brother and leader of the clan. Driven from his home because he stole one female too many from his Prince, he can’t understand why the one woman he really loves doesn’t want to renew their affair. What does it matter that fifty years have passed since their last meeting? Isn’t love eternal?
Then, there’s younger brother Valerius, living la vida American and loving it. When ordered to get serious and find a bride, he does what any spoiled brat will do. He runs away…and right into the arms of a most beguiling young lady…who’s human and mortal and forbidden. What’s a vampire to do?
As for Cousin Timon… Married to the author of the most famous vampire series since Interview with the Vampire can be fun, until she writes a novel proving vampires exist. Now, Tim and Laura have a big problem, for the leader of New Orleans’ vampires has to do something about that tell-all book.
Join the Clan Andriescu as they find love, lose it, find it again, and struggle to keep it.
In Blood Will Freeze vampires arise from their resting places after asteroid impacts the earth in the year 2012. The Earth, that has undergone a deep freeze, is divided amongst the strongest vampires into territories. The humans that are left are kept as livestock for feedings. With a whole globe to themselves, the vampire leaders still want more and fight to rule planet Earth, but they aren’t the only ones who want to rule.
The characters focused on in this short story are the vampire ruler of the Americas, Alixandra and her human servant Michael. Alixandra is a leader who provides for her humans, but not out of compassion, it is for her own means. Michael is the exception, she feels for this servant who does not care for her in return. The character of Michael broke my heart from the beginning. To me, he seemed beautiful and broken. The author poured Michael’s longing into words and you were enamored with the character from the start.
As I have mentioned in the past, I appreciate de Vissage’s work, but this is probably my favorite of his short stories. The fact that this was a really evolved story in just around forty pages was impressive. The author also almost always finds a way to catch the reader off guard, and that is pure joy for a reader.
The fans of vampires who like their stories with a little more bite and a little less sparkle is sure to be impressed with this short story.

Earth’s collision with an asteroid decimates the human population, leaving them easy prey for vampires awakened from their long-buried hiding places. Soon, a struggle for possession of the entire planet looms between the vampire masters, dividing the continents among the strongest until only two remain. From her tower stronghold at Mt. St Helens’, Alixandra Pavlovna, Queen of the Americas, and her mortal servant Michael, gather both Undead and humans to fight off the final onslaught of Celadon Korbel, Master of Europe, Africa, and Asia.
It’s a bloody, brutal battle, where there will be one victor, but what neither vampire ruler knows is that Michael has his own agenda and a definite plan for its outcome.
CONTENT ADVISORY: This title contains a bittersweet ending and graphic violence.
Unpath’d Water’s, Undream’d Shores consists of two short stories by Tony-Paul de Vissage.
I have read several of de Vissage’s works now, and I really enjoy his writing style. Not only are his stories well written and vividly descriptive, they also have a very dark and mysterious quality to them. No matter the length of the tale I am always drawn in immediately. Although his stories aren’t shaking in your boots scary something about his style kind of reminds me of old horror films in book form. Like those old Bela Lugosi movies, de Vissage’s stories have a certain charm about them.
Fans of the supernatural should appreciate Unpath’d Waters, Undream’d Shores. Although the book and the stories within are short, it isn’t too hard to imagine reading this next to a warm fire on a stormy night!

“The Lover in the Lake” was a suicide. Nightly, he rises, searching for the woman for whom he died. Lisa now walks the lake’s shore each day, pining for her dead fiancé. At night, she dreams of wings beating against her bedroom window, of a faceless lover begging entrance. What happens when these two seekers of lost love meet?
Man has always feared death, even more so when plague takes so many. To a lonely ferry boatman, the cloaked knight seemed mad to wish to be taken into a land where sickness raged, but he agreed to guide him across the river. Only when the dark rider returns, does he realize what the “Shadow’s Crossing” means to his own existence.
CONTENT ADVISORY: This is a re-edited reprint release. It contains a bittersweet ending.
The Best Dentist in Orange County is a short story by Tony-Paul de Vissage, and includes another short called Identity.
These are really short stories both together are only about 20 pages long. So I want to try to give a review without giving too much away. Identity is about Everett Stead, an identity thief who has gotten in over his head. I have reviewed two other books by de Vissage, and this story is closest to what I am familiar with as far as the author’s writing.
The Best Dentist in Orange County really took me by surprise. Domingo is a vampire who has bitten off more than he could chew, and in the process broke a fang. It is not often a vampire needs to visit the dentist, but I liked the touch of humor the story had. The air of the whole tale was really light and fun.
For me, the author showed two completely different sides to his writing. If you’re up for a couple of cool vamp short stories, The Best Dentist in Orange County is sure to entertain!

What does a vampire do when he has a toothache? In “The Best Dentist in Orange County”, nightwalker Domingo de Leyenda behaves as expected… he goes to his sister for help. Liseta comes to the rescue. The results, however, will be a bit of a shock to both doctor and patient, for Teissedre Chanet, DDS, is a most unusual dentist.
“Identity” features Everett Stead, an expert at stealing information. Credit cards, bank accounts… you name it, he can pinch or hack it… This time, however, the knowledge he’s obtained may be a little too personal, for ever since he lifted a certain gentleman’s wallet, Everett’s had the definite feeling he’s being followed. He just doesn’t know by what.
