Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome our featured author, D.N. Simmons.

My name is D.N. Simmons and I’m an author with a pretty entertaining urban-fantasy series called the Knights of the Darkness Chronicles. It’s about vampires and shifters living out in the open with humans. Society is holding itself together by a fragile peace since neither side fully trusts the other. The Knights of the Darkness takes an fairly common theme dealing with supernatural creatures and travels down a completely different path to deliver one hell of a fast-paced, dark, sexy and action-packed adventure.

I chose to start my writing career in urban-fantasy because I enjoyed the freedom of the genre. I had a lot of fun combining all of the elements
from other genres into my series, so fans of paranormal romance, horror, comedy, erotica, action and mystery all have something to enjoy in the Knights of the Darkness Chronicles. It leaves open so many possibilities story-wise and character building and I think that’s why the series has been successful in gaining new readers.

I also like to think I’ve held true to the vampire mythology I fell in love with. I remember watching Fright Night as a child and my cousin and I
fighting over who’s going to be Amy just so we could be the girl the sexy vampire wanted. Hehehe… kids. Jerry Dandridge was a tortured soul, but unlike some of the brooding vampires of today’s bloodsuckers, he was still very much enjoying being a vampire. And what he wanted, he took. Now, that’s not to say he was boyfriend material, but he was one bad-ass vamp. LOL.

I hope you all take the opportunity to read the Knights of the Darkness Chronicles. I believe you will fall in love with the series, I truly do.

Thank you for having me and I wish everyone a wonderful day.
Love,
D.N.

Our Review:

Desires Unleashed is the first book in the Knights of the Darkness series by D.N. Simmons. I’ve had to sit and think about his review for a bit as I’m not exactly sure how to present my thoughts. Let me first say I really enjoyed the book overall. The characters were all well developed, but the problem was there were so many characters it became a little hard to follow. I kept trying to figure out what exactly they had to do with each other, and until the very end of the book they really didn’t seem to have anything in common. I know there are several more books in the series that I haven’t read so I’m going to assume the author was introducing all these characters for the future books.

The storyline was addictive and kept you guessing. With so many paranormal beings running around it was impossible to know who the true bad guy was. I really enjoyed the relationship between Warren (shape shifter) and Matthew (human) the detectives assigned to the gruesome murder case. There is a sexual tension between them that I hope comes together in a future book. The vampires seem to take up most of the book and I didn’t mind at all. I really like the Master vampire Darian and his second in command and lover Xavier. While Darian certainly has his blood thirsty, god complex side, he shows a much different side when he’s with Xavier. In the book description it mentions the character Natasha and how she ends up in the supernatural word and involved with the two vampires. Well, I don’t want to disappoint you, but it’s not nearly as exciting as it sounds. Natasha, Darian, and Xavier don’t even show up in the same scene until the end of the book. By the way the book ended you can tell there will be something between them in the future though, which I certainly look forward to!

The only characters in the book that didn’t make a lot of sense were Sergio and Elise, the leopard shifters. While I loved their characters and their storyline, it just didn’t contribute to this book. It just seemed like it was thrown in to introduce them, but honestly it wouldn’t have changed the book if they weren’t in it at all. I do hope they show up in future books.

I hope that my review didn’t come across as too negative. Yes, there was a lot going on, but as long as you go into the book realizing that it is a first of many in a series it will make it easier to follow. This is a series that has a lot of potential and I will definitely be reading the rest. There was a little steam, nothing scorching hot, but the sexual tension was huge and really made you want to see more of all the characters.
