What’s an 800-year-old vampire to do when his life mate isn’t the Jessica Rabbit-type he dreamed of and is more like Olive Oyl? That’s a question Lynsay Sands answers in The Rogue Hunter, the latest entry in her Argeneau Vampire series.
Meet Garrett Mortimer, rogue vampire hunter. He’s tall, smart and sexy, and old enough to have lost interest in food and sex. But he’s good at his job, which has led him and two other hunters to a remote area of Canada in search of a vamp who’s been dining on the locals.
It’s not exactly the sort of place you’d expect to find a vampire and the last place Mortimer thought he would find his life mate … but fate is funny like that.
Enter Samantha Willan, lawyer. Tall, smart and skinny, she’s nursing an inner ear infection that’s made her a bit klutzy, and a bit of a broken heart after her high-school sweetheart left her because she wasn’t woman enough for him.
Mortimer’s preconceptions make him wonder the same thing but exposure to the brilliant Sam has him reconsidering and worked up into a real bother before he knows it.
Sands stokes some serious heat between Mortimer and Sam as they get to know one another, and serves up a helping of angst amongst the lighter moments of the story. The surrounding cast, as always, is a delight, including Sam’s two sisters (Alex and Jo) and Mortimer’s pals (Bricker and Decker).
The Rogue Hunter is a snappily written tale, engaging from start to finish and another fine addition to the Argeneau series.

It was a good read, and the humorous undertone as all ways so it was a solid read.

I turned to Lynsay Sands books as a follow-up to loving the Twilight series. I found many similarities between The Rogue Hunter and Twilight, however the Rogue Hunter gave me that extra spice that the Twilight series couldn’t b/c it is written for teen/young adult. I am definitely going to be reading more of Sands books as I like the Rogue Hunter enough that I finished the book the same evening (well technically early the next morning). It was worth the long evening that only rendered 2.5 hours of sleep for me.

I stumbled upon Lynsay Sands after a couple other vampire series. I have to say I love her stories the most. These books were sooooo good I found myself finishing them the same day I started them. It would be so hard to pick one of this series to call my fav.

I’m a big vampire junkie, so i just had to try this book out and as far as Vampire books go this was only ok. I liked but it kinda had some slow parts I didn’t enjoy. I love most of Lynsay Sand’s books, but I was a bit dissappointed!

I loved the first three Twilight Books and got hooked on Lynsay Sands and Kerrilyn Sparks after reading all four Twilight Books. The Rogue Hunter is a an ok book, but there are some parts that really drag… some with Immortal Hunter. I like the story lines, but there are some portions that could be omitted. I have always liked Vampires, but I have recently become a full fledged Vampire Romance junkie… I just started Michele Bardsley recently.

I have been reading vampire, werewolf, shapeshifter books for months now. Can’t get enough of them. A great series of books is by Charlaine Harris…The Sookie Stackhouse Series. These are the books that the HBO show Trueblood are based on. I haven’t found another series of books that I enjoy more.

I’ve gone through all the “popular” vampire series and I’m looking for a new one. I really enjoyed the Anita Blake Vampire Hunter series. Can anyone comment as to whether or not I’d like this Lynsay Sands series based on that comparison? I also really liked the Sookie Stackhouse books and the Undead & Unwed series….

I recently started the Black Dagger Series by J.R. Ward. I enjoy them as much as the Sookie Stackhouse series. I also enjoyed the A House of Night series by P.C. Cast & Kristin Cast (this series is more of a junior series, but the story is still interesting)

I ditto everything AmyMDBK wrote in December of last year including getting 2.5 hours of sleep! I didn’t start with “Rogue Hunter,” but “Immortal Hunter” instead and on to the entire Argeneau series. I love this series. After the four “Twilight” books, I remembered how much I used to love paranormal romance. I am again a junkie. big time! I have read all of Lindsay Sands books now and need recommendations for other authors.

I read all 4 Twilight books in 2 weeks and was obsessed with vampires by the end of that series. Then I found Charlaine Harris\’ Sookie Stackhouse series…Great books. I\’ve read all of them. If you are looking for adult romance this is a good series. However, I was a little disappointed that she fell off the wagon with the intense romance in her latter books. But it didn\’t keep me from reading them. I\’m def. going to investigate Lynsay Sands. Thanks to all for the reviews.

Since leaving my original message, I’ve started reading the Lynsay Sands books. LOVE THEM! I can’t get them from the library fast enough! Also, the guy at the library has noticed the kinds of books I’ve been checking out and recommended “Nice Girls Don’t Have Fangs” by Molly Harper. I’m about halfway through it and it’s pretty good. Very similar to the Sookie Stackhouse novels. This is the only book this author has out, but she’s got two new ones that are supposed to be coming out soon, but no realease date has been mentioned yet.

I have read the entire Argeneau series and look forward to each new release. As in any long running series, some books are better than others but on the whole this series rocks. It is funny, sexy and well written.

It takes a little long to get into it. Starts slow to me

Lynsay Sands is great. I have loved all her books and only have couple left to read. I have also enjoyed Kerlynn Sparks. Another great author is Lara Adrian. She has a really good vampire romance series that you will love if you are into the vampire romance.

I so love Lynsay Sands novels about the Argeneau Family, I too started reading the Twilight Saga then wanted something more and I’ve been hooked with her work and all the characters and often times find myself going back to other novels just for the laugh or to be reminded of certan people
