Holy bone-melting erotic vampire sex!
I just finished reading Diane Whiteside’s Bond of Blood and all I can say is “Holy bone-melting erotic vampire sex!” Seriously.
Despite having an affection for the Texas Hill Country and having this site about vampire romance books, I had not read any of Ms. Whiteside’s other Texas Vampire short stories prior to picking up Bond of Blood, the first in a Texas Vampire novel trilogy. I really had no idea what to expect, but I have to say I’m very impressed and find myself eager to read the second part, Bond of Fire, which is due out in January.
Bond of Blood is riveting and some kind of steamy as we’re introduced to the world of Don Rafael Perez, a former medieval knight who governs the vampire population of modern day Texas. His “kingdom” is one of law and order, and at peace, but there are power-hungry factions around them, ones who would lay claim to his beloved Texas in an instant if he let his guard down. Therefore, he is constantly vigilant, aware of the dangers that surround him and his band of loyal men and those under his care. With his position, he has almost everything he could ask for — power, wealth, friends and willing women — but his heart has no one to love. For centuries, it has remained untouched, devoted to the memory of his loving wife.
Then Grania O’Malley enters his life.
New to Texas, Grania is a brilliant and well-respected veterinarian specializing in wild birds. She has lived a rather quiet, lonely life, concentrated on getting her education and pursuing her career. All her life, though, Grania has kept the company of her dreams, dreams of life as the wife of a strong and handsome knight. They are vivid dreams, but just dreams … or so she believes until the day she sets eyes on Don Rafael Perez — the spitting image of her knight, in the flesh.
Curiosity and attraction collide as Grania and Rafael meet and quickly begin a dance of mind and heart (and body), igniting their passion and opening the doors to their souls — and pasts — even as danger and death loom and evil plans to tear them apart.
Bond of Blood is well and intensely written, filled with romance, suspense and flagrantly erotic (and loving) sex, making it one of those books that is next to impossible to put down once you start it.
Have you read Bond of Blood? If so, please feel free to leave a comment and let us know what you think.

Your quote of “Holy bone-melting erotic vampire sex!” is DEAD on!!! Wow, this book grabbed me from the first 10 pages. While I did enjoy the incredibly sensual Don Rafael, this book would’ve been just as good even without the yummy parts. Diane Whiteside has given us a great intro view into the world of Don Rafael’s Texas vamps and I can’t wait to read the next book, Bond of Fire, about Jean-Marie.
